Diversity
The Work Between is committed to diversity.
My primary goal is to speak with people who have something genuine and considered to say about their creative practice. Every guest brings a different perspective. I will not invite someone simply to fill a demographic checkbox, and I will not exclude someone because they belong to a group that is already well-represented.
That said, the show’s subject matter sits at the intersection of creative practice and lived experience. That intersection looks very different depending on who you are. To reflect that honestly, I actively seek guests from groups that are underrepresented in conversations about art and making, including:
- Disabled people, including those with non-apparent and episodic disabilities
- Neurodivergent people
- Indigenous and First Nations people
- Women and non-binary people
- People from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds
- LGBTQIA+ people
- People across a range of ages and career stages
- People from varied socioeconomic backgrounds
I also seek guests from different parts of the world, because geography shapes creative practice in ways that rarely get enough attention.
If you have concerns about guest diversity on The Work Between, or want to suggest a guest, please get in touch.
