Guest Setup

Thank you for coming on board as a guest on The Work Between podcast.

Here is some information for you to prepare ahead of recording. And some information I will need from you.

For you to prepare

• Unless specified otherwise, we will record using the Zencaster platform.
• You do not need to download or install anything to use Zencaster.
• Find a quiet space for recording. Don’t plan on doing this from a cafe or busy communal space.
• You will need a headphone with microphone. Avoid using a phone headset if possible. Modern AirPods are not ideal as they use spatial audio with dynamic head tracking. This means if you turn your head while you’re’talking to me, the sound changes.
• Do not use your laptop’s microphone, particularly without a headset.
• If you have access to a USB Condenser Microphone, that would be ideal.
• I enable the video option in Zencaster so we can see each other when we chat. But I am not recording the video. If video on is a problem for you, let me know and I can turn it off.
• Use the latest stable version of Chrome or Edge. Zencastr does some magic under the hood that works better in those browsers.
• Zencastr records each audio track locally, and at the end of the conversation uploads it to my Dropbox. This allows best audio quality, especially if there are connection issues.

Zencastr and accessibility

Unfortunately, Zencastr isn’t super accessible for people who rely on screen readers or speech control.

Should you need accessibility on that perspective, please advise me so we can pivot to using Zoom instead. Zoom doesn’t allow for as good audio quality, so it’s less desirable.

What I need from you

To prep for the show and before publishing an episode, I will need the following information:

• A short bio
• A high resolution quality head and shoulder photo of you
• Alternate text to describe yourself in the photo. I can write this text, but I don’t want to presume anything.
• Your preferred pronouns
